Harare is a major cultural, commercial and educational center with many beautiful parks and gardens. Its population of 1,600,000 is multi-ethnic, making for a rich culture of peoples and languages. On the outskirts town are wildlife sanctuary Mukuvisi Woodlands, Larvon Bird Gardens (over 180 species of bird), Lake Chivero recreational park and game reserve and Ewenrigg Botanical Gardens.
